I had been in touch with Sonny early in 2022 sharing our past and planning to meet in Atlantic City. I didn't hear from him and now just today I found out why. Hi Babe, Happy Thanksgiving.  The holidays will never be the same with you sitting at the head of the table.  You were my one and only love of my life for 52+ years.  Everything happened so suddenly when you got sick and there was no time to plan anything for the future.  It was only one month from the time you got sick and then died.  My world died too.  The only good thing is that you didn't suffer anymore.  You were a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother- in- law and uncle.   You had a platinum heart and always ready to help anyone.  You always made sure that me and the kids and grandkids had everything we wanted.  You never said NO.  You were my bodyguard always.  We were your pride and joy.  I really thought we would have alot more years together, but God had other plans for us.  We were looking forward to Christina's dance recitals, Nicholas' graduation this year, Victoria's prom, Michael and Tara's wedding in 2024, and Melissa and Andrew's time on the beach.  We had many good times in Atlantic City, cruises, Aruba, Hershey Park with family and friends.  The worst part of losing you is that you are not there to start the day and to end the day.  I miss your voice calling me in an empty house.  Going down the shore every summer was your Happy Place.  You loved spending time on the beach with everyone.   Now, I will look out into the ocean and remember you being the Life Guard for your grandkids.  I will look up at the sky and you always commented, "what beautiful sunsets". You loved the holidays and making your famous Fish Salad for Christmas Eve.  So many beautiful memories of you.  I don't want you to worry anymore.  Our kids, grandkids and our friends are just the best.  Your wish was to be surrounded by your kids and grandkids to say Goodbye.  Well, you did get your wish to say goodbye to all of us.  I will miss you and I love you from the bottom of my broken heart and one day we will meet again in Heavenly Paradise.  My Sonny, My Babe

Dad/Pop -

Today we put you in your final resting place. We look back over the last few weeks and it still seems so surreal to all of us.  We were not prepared for the outcome as we expected this reality to be some years down the road.  I guess none of us really know when our time on this Earth will expire, so in the meantime we will be Grateful.  Grateful to have had a Father that can be at peace knowing he instilled in me a self-confidence and work ethic that I would come to rely on to support my children during a crucial time in their lives.  Grateful for the mini debates because we were both stubborn and needed to be right.  Grateful to have had a Grandfather that can be at peace knowing he stepped in as a positive male role-model for his grandchildren and showed them the importance of family by prioritizing them above all else.  Grateful for the proud Pop moments that had you yelling their names at school parades, recitals and sporting events causing embarrassment every time.  Grateful for your support in embracing a blended family and showing us what life is all about.  So many things to be Grateful for and so many memories to live on in all of us.

We love you, we miss you, we will continue to make you proud.

I will never understand why you were taken so soon, but I find comfort in knowing that you didn’t suffer for so long. I know there were so many more things I wanted you to be around for that I have quite not gotten to yet, but you were definitely a huge part of where I am today and who I want to become. You always put your family first and gave so much of what you had to offer. I am so incredibly blessed to have been your granddaughter for 24 years, although it will never feel like it was enough. I will forever cherish all of your love and care over the years as a grandpas love is like no other. My memories of you will never fade but always remain close to my heart. I remember when the coffee shop down the shore named “Pop’s” opened up and I knew I had to buy you a shirt because it only felt right. There will never be a beach day that goes by where I won’t look up at the dunes and wish I could pull the cart just another time. I wont ever forget when you made me a mortadella sandwich for the beach because you knew how much I loved it. But then again that was you, you always went above and beyond for all of us and I will continue to do the same. Thank you for being the one we all looked up to. Not to worry, I will continue to bust Andrew’s chops about the Steelers for you always! I know you will continue to watch over us just like you always did. Rest in the sweetest paradise Pop. POP!!! 

Where do I even begin. First things first, thank you for creating a beautiful & loving family that I am so blessed to have become a part of.  You’re love for your family is something every man should use as a template. Your family was as proud of you as you were of them. Although we only had a short period of time to get to know each other i feel we utilized that time as if it were endless.  I will miss our bantering back and forth about the Giants and the Steelers. And as much as it pains me to say this, the Giants are definitely for real this year & i hope that they win the super bowl.  Before you left us Melissa was leaving school and as she got in her car my moms song tiny dancer came on the radio. I told her that was a sign from her telling her that you were going to be ok & that she would guide you into heaven to finally be pain free. I hope you two met as she is a HUGE giants fan just like you. 

Enjoy the show from the balcony seats. We will miss you Pop!

Pop,

There aren't words strong enough to describe the loss and pain I am suffering. I can write for hours about times and memories we've had together. Specifically, calling you on a Wednesday about a Maserati and having it in your driveway 24 hours later saying 'don't tell mimi how much I spent!' Those are memories that won't be erased. Although I won't have anyone to call anymore during the week as I drive for hours working, I know you will still be there listening when I need. I have voicemails from you just checking up on me that I will save and listen to again one day thinking of you. The support you provided was unconditional and we could go on for hours talking about things that didn't even really matter, like the price of gas or cars. If I forgot to call after 5 days, you would always call and say "what are you pissed at me?? how the hell have you been." Visiting you everyday at the hospital you even said "you don't have to work today?" Truth was I did but work would always be there tomorrow and that's what I told you. I'll continue to make you proud everyday and I will one day tell my kids the priceless memories we shared and how much I would have loved for them to meet you. We will see each other again one day, I know you'll be keeping an eye on me until then.

I’ll never forget one of the first times I met Mimi and Pop, just a few months after I met Michael. We went to Roxanne’s for dinner after michael went with pop to pick up Pop’s new Jag. Driving over to meet them at bliss ct I was so anxious, but they made me feel like a part of the family right away. Whether me and michael would stop by randomly after dinner or walk over to the k street beach pop always had a smile on his face and was happy to see us. I see what a strong positive impact he had on Michaels life growing up and they relationship they had now that Michael was older. I know Pop was so excited for us start this new chapter in our lives,  now he will be watching from above. 

Dear Grace i met your husband (Sonny) a few times most recently while your mom was in the NH@ Allendale. He was gracious and smiled at me when we met each time. My heart is with you and your family.. i love you…❤️🙏🏻🤗

There’s things that I always wanted to say to you that we just didn’t have time to ourselves when we saw one another 
We always say to ourselves “I’ll tell him next time”unfortunately that time never came.
I want you to know that I was a proud son in law and though we always busted on each other it was done out of love and I will  never be able to do that again.
But you did get the last one in at the hospital when you called me “ stupid Mike”  
You were a respected father and grandfather and we were truly blessed

I am lost for words.   The memories of you will never go away.  You were a brother in law but also a “brother”.  You were generous with everyone not just your kids.  You welcomed my Mom  like she was your own mother.  The holidays will not be the same .  I will always be there for my sister so she will be taken care of just not like you would have. Hi Dad/Pop,
Our hearts break knowing that you are no longer around the corner sitting at your desk chair every time we pop in. It was just our natural instinct to always turn and see you hard at work with Cowboys and Indians on the TV. You were a man of many hats and always did what was best for your kids and grandkids. We will always cherish the wonderful memories we shared together at the beach, casinos, family gatherings/holidays, and much more. We knew every time we had a gathering, we would be ready with a glass full of ice (and straw), “real silverware,” and always made sure you were served you the first cup of coffee. Melissa and Andrew will miss the Giants/Steelers jokes every football Sunday that they looked forward to. Michael and Tara will always cherish the second dinners they would have at your house and visiting car dealerships. We looked up to you in every aspect as you guided us all on the right paths. We will forever miss your sense of humor and the light you brought into all of our lives that will never be forgotten. Thank you for always going above and beyond for your kids and grandkids. We know you will never be entirely gone as you will continue to be with us every step of the way and we will always be looking for those signs to comfort us when we need. We miss and love you every day, but know you are at peace now. Rest in the sweetest paradise as you explore all of the beaches in the world.

I wish I had the words to be able to tell all the memories I have with my father but I can say my fondest memories was all the camping trips we went on when I was young along with him at all my baseball games. He even helped me start my own business even though I had other plans to follow. I tried to make him so proud and I believe I did when I graduated as a Chef.   My father taught me a lot and helped me as he was a man of integrity, respect and honor. Things that were instilled in me that I still hold on to. My father did it the right way. Although in my older years I drifted away to live my life he was and will always be my best friend.
