Born in Jersey City on January 17, 1944 to the late Charles and Nicolette Brema, Charlie served proudly as the Superintendent of the Union City Parks and Public Property Department from 1974 until his retirement. He ran Union City's Roosevelt Stadium for more than 39 years and was also vital in the Union City Recreation Department. An avid lover of sports, he impressed all with his knowledge of players, stats, records in all sports, but especially the NY Yankees having said "meeting Mickey Mantle in person left him speechless" and for all who knew him that wasn't an easy task. In 1995 he was awarded the Community Service Award and was inducted into the Hudson County Hall of Fame.
Always a prankster and a guy with a hearty laugh and smile, Charlie could entertain people for hours with his countless stories.
Charles leaves behind his devoted wife of 28 years Linda, his sister Michelle McEnroe, his loving nieces and nephews Stacy McEnroe, Thomas McEnroe, Meghan and Adam Havriliak, Jennifer and Vincent Luizza, Kimberly and Alex Giacchino, great nephew Zachary McEnroe Lewis, great niece Nicolette Havriliak, and dear friend Tom Highton.
