Paul was such a great guy. I will always remember him fondly. In my years working with him, with Paul being the Chair of the Mohegan Board of Education, he was always there to offer his wisdom and advice to me. His door was always open for all of his colleagues at work. He cared deeply about the education of all students.
I will miss him and am glad that he touched my life.

In times of grief, sometimes a funny memory lightens the pain briefly. I remember many years ago, your parents decided to go parasailing in Niantic, I believe. He had a tribal meeting to go to afterwards. He was told that he wouldn’t get wet, since he would take off from a platform. So he dressed for the meeting, shirt, dress shorts and sandals. While parasailing, the rope broke and he very quickly landed in the ocean! He wasn’t injured, thankfully! He did lose a sandal though! So much for not getting wet! 😆 Your mother was hysterical telling us the story! He had to go home and change his clothes before the meeting of course! Had to get a complete set of sandals!

I've been thinking about Paul and how his passing was before his time should've ended.   If Paul was your supervisor you knew one fundamental thing which was that he always had your back.   He invested a lot of time and energy into the people he managed.   He was a wonderful mentor and trusted his people and their expertise.  He will be missed by all those that were fortunate to be under his management.  To the Sturges family I thank you all for making me always feel like one of the family.  Wishing you love and strength at this sad time.

Dear Sturges family,
I will always remember Paul’s good natured and dedicated hard work at our powwows/wigwams back in the days when we all had nothing, his bold efforts supporting our sovereignty, and his wise personal advice over the years, He was a force of nature and his passing is hard to fathom, which leads me to believe he will always be with us. I hope his great love and pride in all of you and the legacy you represent can help bring you peace.

Joanne and children, please know Paul will be missed greatly. He was always willing to listen and to offer an opinion in a good natured and often humorous way. 
I will always remember the time and effort that he committed, creating a Christmas extravaganza. Christmas at the Sturges' began in late September and never really ended until Spring was just around the corner. At the Sturges' it was Christmas like no other, and of course he shared this with so many.
