

William “Sonny” Addington, 80, of Tyler, passed away on November 6, 2012 in Tyler. Sonny, a maintenance Mechanic was born on January 9, 1932 in Oklahoma City, Ok. He grew up in Deval, Oklahoma; Arp, Texas and Overton, Texas. Mr. Addington attended Kilgore College. Following school, he worked for Mabee Petroleum Oil Co., prior to being drafted into the army to serve in Korea. Following his military service, he worked for Cottonbelt Railroad and Webster Foundry until 1975. He then went to work for Trane, retiring in 1997 after 21 years of service. He married Mary Jo Caldwell on November 21, 1962. He loved drag racing and the Dallas Cowboys. He loved his family and his grandchildren. He was a member of Park Heights Assembly of God and loved The Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo of Tyler; children, Danny Addington and wife, Carolyn of Atlanta, Texas; Glenn Addington of Tyler, Sherrel Flowers of Whitehouse, Tamzie and husband, David Nichols of Whitehouse, as well as his siblings; Lloyd Paul Addington of Longview, Brenda Bell of Overton, Barbara and husband, Freddie Womack of Troup and David and wife, Jeannnie Addington of Tyler and Grace Ladema Calhoun of Muskogee, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Danny Addington, granddaughters, Tiffany Johnston and Sarah Elizabeth Addington.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Park Heights Assembly of God Church, 2824 Old Van Highway, Tyler. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler.
