Walter Connally Luther

Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.

Walter was born February 3, 1945 to Walter Hayes Luther and Evelyn Beckham. Walter graduated from Tyler High with the class of 1963. Walter married Betty LaJaunie on December 31, 1966. Walter was affectionately known to most as Connie.

Walter retired from the City of Tyler Parks Department in December 2009. Walter was a charter member of Tyland Baptist Church.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Caleb Cecil Luther. After his first grandson was born, Walter became known as "PeePoo."

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Betty, daughter Phebe Mims, and son Peyton Luther (Brandi). Walter also leaves behind four grandchildren: Alyssa Luther, Madison Mims, Karsen Luther and Kamryn Luther, with a host of loved family members.

We will surely miss his "dad" jokes along with his keen knowledge about airplanes along with his many tools and lawn mowing excursions... Let's not forget his chicken's (four-legged friend) adventures.

Pallbearers include: Rodney Johnson, Ray Tate, Donald Hopkins, Jace Goodnight, and Lee Richards. Honorary pallbearer is James (Jimmy) Alexander.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at Tyland Baptist Church, located at 2818 Silvercreek Drive, Tyler, Texas 75702.

Th family would like to thank all those who provided medical care for Walter, The Homeplace of Tyler for providing such loving and compassionate care during his short time in hospice and to the many friends and families for all their prayers.
