Suenelda McClure passed away on May 29, 2013. Susie was a homemaker and a long time resident of Tyler. She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, but grew up in Durham, North Carolina. After high school, she worked as a nanny in Grandfather Home For Children in North Carolina, then as a nanny for a family in New Jersey. She then taught kindergarten for three years for the Head Start federal children’s program. She married Dr. Robert McClure, a psychologist, and eventually moved to Tyler where her husband was a professor in the Department of Psychology at UT Tyler.
Susie was a sweet and loving person, who loved children, art and decorating.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her sons, David and Scott McClure; her daughter, Wendy Geer and five grandchildren.
There will be a visitation at Lloyd James Funeral Home on Friday, May 31, from 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 2:30 pm at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with the Very Rev. Anthony McLaughlin, JCD officiating. Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.
