Sherry Ann Peek, of Tyler, Texas, was born to Marjorie and Frank Moffett on February 28, 1943 in Commerce, Texas and passed away at 6:45 p.m. on March 11, 2013 at The Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, Texas.
Sherry married the love of her life, Don Adolphus Peek, on June 3, 1961 in Commerce, Texas, and they celebrated 51 wonderful years of marriage. During and after working full time at home to raise their two children, Sherry volunteered countless hours to the West Erwin Benovolent Center for over 20+ years, and to the Glenwood Church Benevolent Center for many years prior to that. She was a preschool teacher at Glenwood Church’s “Little People School” for many years when her own children were young, and also volunteered as a Bible class teacher for the Glenwood Church children’s ministry. More recently, she was an active member at Shiloh Road Church of Christ.
Sherry was a gifted artist who loved painting and drawing, giving many of her paintings as gifts to friends and family members, and volunteering her talents to decorate church classrooms through the years. She participated and assisted with many art shows in the Tyler area through the Tyler Palette of Roses Art League, East Texas Fair, and through the Penny Nichols Sanders School of Fine Arts.
Sherry was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and friend who will be greatly missed. She had a contagiously positive and spiritual outlook on life, and always saw the best in everyone and every situation, even in her health struggles at the end of her life. Sherry was a generous servant to others, and her bubbly personality made everyone feel welcomed and appreciated wherever she went.
Sherry is survived by her husband Don Adolphus Peek; son David (and Christine) Peek of Irving, Texas; daughter Lisa (and Nayon) Tomsio of Austin, Texas; sister Sandra (and Jim) Tucker of Port St. Lucie, Florida; brother Paul (and Beth) Moffett of Louisville, Kentucky; grandchildren Sara Fry, Anthony Tomsio, Michael Fry, Jacob Peek and Adam Tomsio; and many nieces and nephews.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Marjorie Moffett.
A memorial service for Sherry will be held on Friday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Shiloh Road Church of Christ, 1801 Shiloh Rd; Tyler, Texas.
