A Mass of Christian Burial for Sarah Elizabeth Hillin Parker, 70, of Tyler is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 10:30 A.M., in The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Father George Dinguis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mrs. Parker passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Reunion Plaza in Tyler.
Sarah was born September 26, 1943, at home in Pinehill, Rusk County, to Joe Abby and Johnnie Yarbough Hillin. After graduating from Henderson High School, she married her high school sweetheart, a career U.S. Marine.
She worked at several interesting jobs. She was a file clerk at the California Census Bureau, and the San Onofre Nuclear Plant during construction. In Tyler, she worked for Jewel Concrete, National Life Insurance, The City of Tyler street department, and as the secretary for the airport manager at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler.
Sarah is survived by her husband of 52 years, Claude Parker; her son, Jeffrey Parker, of Dallas; three granddaughters, Kate Parker, of Dallas, Sara Parker, of Waco, and Loey Parker, of Ovilla; her brother, John R. Hillin and his wife, Gene Hillin of Brookville, Ohio; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Hillin, of Stephenville.
Sarah was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Parker; her brother, Maurice Hillin; her sister, Martha Wallace; and brother-in-law, Dwight Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, from 5 to 7 P.M., at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
