He was born on September 28, 1943 in Rio Grande City, Texas to George and Lois Rowan. Roy was raised in Edom, Texas and attended school in Kissimmee Florida until the 8th grade. He married Carole Bombard in 1961 and the couple had 2 children. He was an oilfield worker at Global Marine and Exxon/Mobile where he worked for more than 50 years. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed golf, traveling, and spending time with his family. His family and friends will always remember him as a person you could always count on in good times and bad.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents George and Lois Rowan, and brother Roger Rowan. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Carole Rowan, daughter Laurie Rowan Deel and husband Darrell Deel, son Randy Rowan and wife Julie Rowan, grandchildren Robert (Robby) Drury, Jr., Christian Drury, Rachel Rowan, and Charlie Edwards.
A graveside service for Roy will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home - Cemetery & Mausoleum, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, TX 75704.
