Rose Marie Saleh Pilcher left this world to be with her Heavenly Father on February 24, 2014. Cherished wife, sister, mother, nana, and nonna, she was born on August 7, 1932 in Tyler. She grew up in the Tyler area, graduated from John Tyler High School, and received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from North Texas State (UNT).
A lifelong teacher and professor, champion of education, she spent nearly 40 years at Richland College. As a testament to her dedication to her students, she received the 2004-2005 Excellence in Teaching Award at Richland. She devoted her life to the Catholic Church, her late husband of 44 years, her children and her beloved grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, William B. Pilcher, Sr. and all her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, William B. Pilcher, Jr., Stephen R. Pilcher, Andrea Pilcher Loftus, and her seven wonderful grandchildren.
The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Heart Hospital of Plano, Mission and Ministry, BHCS Foundation, 3600 Gaston Ave., Suite 100, Dallas, TX, 75246.
A rosary will be held on Friday, February, 28, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 S. Floyd Rd, Richardson, TX. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul, 1435 ESE Loop 323, Tyler, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
