Phil was born, the middle son of 7 children, on January 27, 1939 in Hawkins, TX, to Claude Leon Martin and Laura Ella Newman. He married Joyce Lynn Bell in 1959, and celebrated fifty-eight wonderful years of marriage.
He worked for Carrier, John Deere, Mac Tools, and Longview Scrapyard until retirement. As an active member of Flint Baptist Church and The Hot Rod Bunch, Phil touched many with his charisma and love for every person he met.
Phil is survived by his wife, Joyce Bell Martin; his three children - Marissa Asbury, Stanley and wife, Tracy Martin, Kim and husband, Benny Ritch; ten grandchildren - Jeremy, Sabrina, Phillip, Kara, Cade, Alanis, Johnathan, Christina, Courtney, and Brittany; five great-grandchildren; three brothers - Preston, Chuck, and Michael; two sisters - Patsy and Wanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Leon Martin and Laura Ella Newman Martin, and his oldest brother, Leon Martin.
Visitation service will be held Wednesday, November 8th, from 6-8pm at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9th, 2pm at Flint Baptist Church with graveside services immediately following at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be sent to Flint Baptist Church Building Fund.
In honor of Phillip Martin, car club members are asked to arrive in their classic car.
