Nettie Graham Potts passed peacefully from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on September 27, 1930, in Van Sickle, Texas, the only child of Wylie and Ruby Graham.
Nettie grew up in the Greenville, Texas area and graduated from Greenville High School in 1948. After graduation, she moved to Dallas where she met the love of her life and future husband, Guy Potts, on a blind date in 1949. They married on June 11, 1950, and moved to Tyler in 1956 where Guy began a 30+ year career with the Cotton Belt Railroad while Nettie devoted herself to caring for their three daughters as a stay-at-home mom. When her daughters reached school age, Nettie worked part-time at Boulter Middle School, KTBB Radio, and Texas Oil & Gas. Guy and Nettie were married for 51 years until his death in 2001.
Nettie was a long-time member of West Erwin Church of Christ. She loved serving as a Bible class teacher for young children, and was honored as “Teacher of the Year” for her dedicated service. For many years, she and Guy were also active in the visitation program and youth activities.
Nettie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Guy, and by her parents, Wylie and Ruby Graham. She is also survived by daughters: Debbie Potts Spradlin and husband Brad, of Tyler; Pam Potts Tindel and husband Terry, of Tyler; Cris Potts Harris and husband John, of Tyler; six grandchildren: Taylor Holly, Joshua Tindel, Scott Spradlin and wife Connie; John Tindel and wife Annika; Sara Register and husband Klay; and Trent Spradlin and wife Shelby; and six great-grandchildren: Fenja Tindel, Finn Register, Aniston Register, Ryan Spradlin, Logan Meadows, and Brooklynn Meadows.
Visitation and services for Nettie will be held at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on March 25, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm.
Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
Graveside services will follow at Cathedral in The Pines Cemetery in Tyler.
