Mrs. Oden was born on September 14, 1936 in Alto to Gerald and Jimmie O’Quin Rice and passed away on September 10, 2018 in Chandler. Raised in Alto she lived in Tyler and Dixie Community most of her life, and worked as a financial secretary for Ford Milling Company and East Texas Feed for over 30 years. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, loved cooking, shelling peas, watching her kids play ball and stock shows, and loved sitting on the porch watching cattle graze and visiting with customers at work.
Survivors include her son Johnny Oden and wife Suzie of Tyler; daughter Brenda Oden of Tyler; grandchildren Shannon Williams and husband Kendall of Greenville, Molly and Bryan Breeze of Plano, Johnny Oden Jr and wife Hannah of Tyler, Holly Bradshaw and husband Austin of Edom; great-grandchild Mychal Williams of Greenville; brothers James Rice, Jimmy Rice, Terry Rice and David Rice and sisters Rosa Lee Killon, Joy Tomlinson, Shirley Ferguson and Cathy Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Russell of nearly 60 years in 2017, her parents and brother Jerry Glenn Rice.
The family would like to thank Patricia Clark and staff at Chandler Nursing Home for their service.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Oden Jr, Bryan Breeze, Kendall Williams, Larry Lewis, Tom Pearson and Billy Joe Killon.
Visitation will be 3-6 pm Sunday, September 16 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
