Just a tiny seed of faith, watered with love, wisdom and hard work grows into a majestic tree of blessings. This was a long held belief of our Beloved Mother and Grandmother, Mrs. Mary Morgan who completed her journey on earth after a lengthy illness, October 2, 2012.
Visitation and rosary will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
A funeral Mass will be Friday morning at 10:00 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler with Bishop-Elect Joe Strickland officiating. The rite of Christian burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Brenham, TX under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Joe P. Morgan of Tyler and her parents Mr. and Mrs. John V. Stepchinski of Brenham, TX where her father owned a local grocery store for many years. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Johnnie Mihovil of Galveston, TX and a brother Joe (”Sonny”) Stepchinski of Bellaire, TX. And son-in-law, Lanny Wright of College Station, TX.
Born Mary Elizabeth Stepchinski, August 15, 1926 in Brenham, TX, she graduated from Brenham High School and later St. Joseph’s School of Nursing In Houston, TX as a Registered Nurse.
Joe and Mary were married in 1947 and moved to Tyler in 1954. Mr. Morgan was employed by Folger’s Coffee Company and Levi Strauss and Company. Together they owned Top Drawer Pant Company with stores located in Longview, Lufkin and College Station, Texas.
Mrs. Morgan worked for Trinity Mother Frances Clinic for many years, then known as Medical and Surgical Clinic. She was also an active member of the Pilot Club of Tyler where she served from 1974-75 as Club president.
She has been a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception since moving to Tyler in 1954.
As a member of the Altar Society, her dedication for volunteer work in her Catholic community never went unnoticed as she cared for grieving families as they laid loved ones to rest.
Mrs. .Morgan is survived by three daughters: Pamela Morgan Campbell and husband, Henry of Tyler; Patricia Morgan Taylor and husband, Richard of Sachse, TX and Paula Morgan Wright of College Station, TX.
Also nine grandchildren who mourn her loss: Jennifer Campbell Morris and husband, Jim; Casey Campbell Shepherd and husband, Andy of Dallas. Also Cooper Taylor and fiance Katie Perrin of Sachse, TX and Larsen Taylor of Sachse, TX; Courtney Lewellen of College Station, TX; Adam Lewellen and wife Sarah; Spencer Lewellen all of Tyler; William Wright and wife Faith of College Station, TX and David Wright and wife Stacy of Opelika, AL..
