Mary Ann Byrum-Bullard, 87, of Tyler passed away on April 22, 2016 in Smithfield, Virginia. Graveside services (section J ; Lot - East half of 400 ; Space 1) will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler on Thursday, April 28th at 2 PM with Rev. Gerry Giles presiding.
Mary Ann was born on January 1, 1929 in Saratoga, Texas to the late Lewis Kim Slatter and Florence Albritton Slatter. She graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and taught in the Tyler Public School System for over 30 years, primarily at Andy Woods Elementary School mostly as a first grade teacher. Mary Ann loved teaching and her students, many stayed in touch with her over the years and she taught several children of prior students.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by husbands Lawrence Elwood Byrum and Francis Eugene Bullard, and is survived by her son Mike Byrum and wife Margaret of Suffolk, Virginia; granddaughter Teri Raymond and husband Joe of Greenville, South Carolina, great grandson Joey Raymond of Greenville, South Carolina, and by her step daughter Jan (Bullard) Richardson and husband Mike Richardson of Tyler.
