Marvin Franklin Garrett

Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.

Mr. Garrett died July 9, 2016 at home. He was born February 16, 1936, in Soules Chapel, Upshur County. He spent his entire career in the grocery business working for Safeway and Brookshire’s before opening Garrett’s Grocery and Garrett’s Bait and Tackle.

He is preceded in death by his father Rufus Eulon Garrett, his mother Zelma Eugenia Garrett and sister, Bobbie Jean Hiett.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Ruth Garrett; sons, Randall Mark Garrett, Tyler and Ronald Dean Garrett, Tyler; daughter, Marvena Lynn Meler and John, Tyler; brother, Dewey Eugene Garrett, Dallas; grandchildren, John Derek Meler, Nashville, TN; Meghan Danielle Meler, Cary, NC, and Johnnie Morgan, Danielsville, GA; great grandchildren, Hayley and Kelsey Morgan, Danielsville, GA.
