She was born November 9, 1936 in Coalgate, OK to Susie Grubbs Allen and Price David Allen. She spent her early years in Oklahoma and Arizona. Her family moved to Tyler, Texas in 1948.
After moving to Tyler, Marquita and her family began looking for a new church home. They found one at First Assembly of God where she later met the love of her life, the late John Harris Jr. They were married on September 7th, 1954 and she and John Jr. went on to raise 3 sons, Gary, Terry and Allen Harris.
Marquita was a long time member of First Assembly of God and was always volunteering in the church wherever there was a need. She was often referred to as a matriarch of the church, having been a member for 75 years.
She was employed in different areas of the medical field until finally retiring in her early 70s.
Along with John Jr, she is also preceded in death by her parents Susie and Price, her son Gary Wallace Harris, his wife Pam and grandson Sean Aubry Harris.
Left to cherish her memory are sons Terry Lee Harris and wife Teresa and John Allen Harris and wife Amanda, along with grandchildren Rachel Harris McEuen and husband Jeremy, Nathan Harris and wife Jackie, Taylor Harris and wife Maris, Tavis Harris and wife Brooke, Tallen Harris, Aubryanna Harris, Allenna Harris and Evan Harris.
She was Mimi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Abby, Price and Carter McEuen, Ethan and Emrie Harris, Townes Harris, Tripp and Tinley Harris and they will miss her dearly.
Her Harris sisters, Jean Harris Henderson, Ruthie Harris Kennedy, Carolyn Harris Andrews, Kay Harris Gross and all their families will miss her smiling face.
She was loved by many other friends and relatives and she will be missed.
Serving as her pallbearers will be Jeremy McEuen, Taylor Harris, Nathan Harris, Tavis Harris, Tallen Harris and Tim Estridge.
The family would like to thank the staff at Atria Copeland for the love and care they gave her while she was a resident there.
Visitation will be 10 AM with service beginning at 11 AM at First Assembly of God, 5309 Rhones Quarter Road, Tyler. Graveside service will follow at Tyler Memorial Park on Hwy 64W.
