Marjorie Roberts Lotz (Aunt Jo) of Tyler, TX passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022 at the age of 98. She was born on Dec. 23, 1923 in Hope, AR where she grew up on a farm in the community of DeAnn, AR with her brothers and sisters.
Aunt Jo graduated from Blevins High School in Blevins, AR and then attended Business school in Oklahoma City. She worked as a private secretary for an oilman in Dallas and in the early 1970s, she came to Tyler to work as a secretary for Mewbourne Oil Company. She was a member of the Methodist church and was actively involved in the Hideaway Lake Community of Lindale, TX where she enjoyed playing Bridge and golf. She was also a member of The Red Hat Society. She and her husband, Orion, enjoyed traveling and playing golf together. Aunt Jo was a wonderful cook and an amazing hostess. Everything she did, whether it was setting a table or hosting friends and family was thoughtful and intentional. Even a plain old sandwich was always set on the prettiest plate and tasted fantastic at Aunt Jo’s house. Aunt Jo never forgot any details of her nieces and nephews’ lives. She was very interested in their lives and enjoyed their visits. She was an avid reader which is why she had such a sharp and wonderful mind right up until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Orion K. Lotz; parents Lafayette and Lucy Roberts; siblings Faye Roberts Clapp, Lee Roberts Willis, Briant Roberts, Obie Roberts Langford, and Herbert Roberts; nephew Edmund Clapp, niece Pat Roberts Durbin, and great-nephew Conrad Clapp.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Granville Clapp, Shirley Clapp Holder, Wanda Clapp Slater, and Janell Clapp Gibson, Gerald Roberts, Linda Roberts McBride, and Barry Roberts as well as several great nieces and nephews all the way to great, great, great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the people of Atria Willow Park Independent Living in Tyler, TX, Hawkins Creek Assisted Living in Longview, TX, and Prime Care Hospice of Longview, TX for their care and compassion they showed our sweet Aunt Jo these past 5 ½ years.
