Graveside services for Marjorie Boyd Haynes, 95, of Tyler, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Monday, September 6, 2010 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Dr. Johnny Beard officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mrs. Haynes passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2010 in Tyler.
She was born on April 2, 1915 in Port Lavaca to the late Edward Richie Boyd and Willie Veda McCollum Boyd. She attended Sour Lake Schools and graduated from Waco High School and then graduated from Baylor University in 1937. She was the director of USO Programs in several U. S. cities during WW II. She was a charter member of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston and is currently a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church, Tyler. She was a longtime Sunday school teacher. She was a retired public school teacher from the Spring Branch ISD in Houston. She was a past member of AAUW and active in the Baylor Alumni Association. She has lived in Tyler since 1978.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert N. ‘Don” Haynes, one brother and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Robert N. Haynes Jr. and wife Tamara; grandchildren, Jenifer Haynes, Colton Haynes all of Tyler; daughter, Pam Bouche and husband Mike of Waco, granddaughter, Scarlett Steakley of Austin, grandson, Zollie C. Steakley and wife Jessica; great granddaughters, Anna Steakley and Maggie Steakley all of Waco.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Haynes’ caregiver, Fredericka Mack.
