Mr. Williams passed away in Tyler on Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was born on July 25, 1946 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Billy and Marjorie Autry Williams.
Gene graduated from Butner High School in Cromwell, Oklahoma and then served in the National Guard. He worked for G.E. and retired from Trane after 35 years. He loved sports; especially baseball and basketball. He enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing and loved being outdoors. He coached baseball, T-ball, and softball for kids and grandkids. Gene was a man of his word, always put his family first and was dedicated to his job.
Gene is survived by his wife, Shirley Williams of Whitehouse; daughter, Melissa Hales and her husband, Jarvis of Rover, Arkansas; son, Bryan Williams and his wife Jennifer of Troup; brother, Billy Wayne Williams of Wewoka, Oklahoma; niece, Krista Clark of Seminole, Oklahoma; grandchildren; Dale and Kelsy Hales of Arkansas; Taylor Williams Mims, Mystery Williams and Jade Williams, Ellie Williams, and Jarad Garza of the Smith County area, and 2 great-grandchildren, Braxton and Jaxson Goodwin of Arkansas.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tommie Coy Williams and grandson, Matthew Hales.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Goodwin, Adam Bailey, Gary McCoy and Allen Goad.
A visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the funeral home.
