Graveside services for Lessie Cordell Brown, 78, of Tyler are scheduled for 10:30am, Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in Bascom Cemetery with Pastor Bruce Rudd officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home
Mrs. Brown passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Athens.
She was born on December 23, 1934 to the late William Elgin and Nellie Elvada Adcock. She was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother. Her love and faith in the Lord brought her through many storms in life. She was a wonderful encouragement to her children and grandchildren, encouraging them to live a good life and love the Lord. She enjoyed reading her Bible and sharing her strength and hope in the Lord with her children and anyone else around. She was blessed with many talents, but her love and ability to knit, crochet and quilt was awesome. She used this blessing to spread love and smiles. She would spend endless hours, days and weeks on a project only to give it to someone who was down and needed a reason to smile. She was very unselfish and asked very little for herself. She enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. Her daughter, Marlyn, who was by her side for nearly 20 years taking care of her, tells of a memory of her being a little girl and how her mom would buy ice cream off the truck and then they would just sit and watch Perry Mason. She was a member of Friendly Baptist Church, Tyler.
She is survived by her children, Edna Marlyn Stewart and husband Robert of Tyler and Joe Randell Osborn; brothers and sisters, Lloyd Adcock and wife Sandra of Whitehouse, William Adcock and wife Betty Sue of Jacksonville, Glenda Wilson of Ohio and Millie Ann Ellison of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
