Johnnie grew up in Chattanooga Tennessee.
He would tell stories of growing up in Chattanooga with Billy Allen Paul, and Jimmy Coley. Sometimes we get to choose family, they were his brothers and I'm sure the memories and adventures they had were legendary at times.
Johnnie had many things in his life, he was well travelled, well spoken, a lover of words and a belief in destiny. He had many interests and continued to learn new things throughout his life. He used to say he loved people when they didn't bother him too much. He was well known in the Recovery community, and in the last 21 years he made a difference in countless lives in east Texas. Johnnie helped start many family support groups in Tyler Texas. This was his passion and as someone who was affected by addiction he used his experience, strength and hope to help others.
Johnnie was a Christian, he held strong to his beliefs, his relationship with God has changed over the years as his program asked him to look inward instead of outward. Johnnie loved words coining the name of the Roving Poet. He would write poetry and was inspired by the words of Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, E.E cummings and T.S Elliot. He would continue to string words together in different orientations throughout his life. He would write about his travels, the women he loved and the sunrise and sunset many times.
Johnnie was a veteran of the Air Force and would take on many different professions throughout his life, he would graduate college in 2013 and become an LCDC. He would go on to work at Sundown ranch in Big sandy Texas where he would work with children and young adults recover from addiction.
Johnnie Branham had two children Rebecca Joanne Branham, and jason Brian Branham, when he married Stephanie Branham, he also gained another daughter. Jolene Fransico. He loved his children. Often trying to show it in his own way, even up until the end.
Johnnie Branham will be missed, he was loved, and he did what he could to try to make the world a better place than he left it.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his mother Betty Vera Gill, His father Samuel "Chic" Burt Branham, his grandfather Samuel Bert Branham, grandmother Temmie Branham, his Wife Stephanie Branham.
He was Survived by his children Rebecca Branham Peal her husband Roy Peal, his Grandsons Jordan and Logan his Son jason Branham Daughter in law Rachel Elaine Branham, his Sister Candy Branham Veirs, his Niece Shelli Lowery Cottingham, her Husband Tracy Cottingham, and children Caroline and Quint.
There will be a service set up at a later date, more info will be provided then. in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to your local treatment center, or domestic violence shelters.
