John Fredric Johnson

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Billie Ruth “Sadie” Johnson. Four children, Charlotte & Don Coin, Rodney and Rosie Johnson, Jeff and Susan Johnson, Cindy and Ray Brown, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 3 step children, Daniel Brookshire, Tony Brookshire, Brett Brookshire, 6 step grandchildren, Anthony, Kevin, Keith, Hayley, Hannah and Hunter Brookshire and 2 great grandchildren, Todd and Hayden Brookshire, all in the East Texas area; and 2 sisters Eloise Godfrey and Monna Straw both of Austin

He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and served as a Pilot Instructor and Squadron Commander during W.W.II. He graduated from University of Houston with a BBA degree in 1948. He had many careers. He loved flying and participated in Air Shows after the war. He was a member of the Air Force Association, American Legion and Uof H Alumni Association.

Our thanks to those who gave him such loving care at the Continued Care Hospital at Trinity Mother Frances and the Hospice of East Texas.

Services will be held at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston; burial at the same location. Visitation in Tyler will be at Lloyd James Funeral Home from 5:30 – 7:00 PM on Monday , March 12 ,2012.
