Jim T. “Big Jim” Hall passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord and Savior on March 17, 2022, in Tyler, Texas at the age of 75. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kathy. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Annie Hall, and his beloved daughter, Stephanie.
Jim was born on October 23, 1946, in Tyler. He graduated from John Tyler High School in 1965 and from Tyler Junior College in 1967. After graduation from TJC, he attended Texas A&M and left there to go play football for the San Francisco 49ers.
Upon returning to his hometown , he was employed by and later retired from Kelly Springfield/Goodyear Corp. He married Kathy Knight in 1996. He and Kathy spent 25 years together, loving and taking care of each other and enjoying retired life.
Jim was a professional bullshitter, a magician, a master custom knife craftsman, and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time sharing funny stories, tall tales, and delicious grilled meats with family and friends. In the Tyler medical community, he was known as “The Rib Man” to many. He absolutely loved people and never met a stranger.
He was a member of The Van Assembly of God Church, St. John’s Lodge, Knights Templar Shriners, and the Tyler Radio Controlled Modelers Club.
Jim is also survived by Barbara “Aunt Red” Garner, Jacksonville, sister-in-law Lyne Knight, Red Oak, brother-in-law Tommy Burnop (Sandra), Tyler, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks and loving gratitude to his private caregivers and to the nursing staff of Christus Home Care that have given him such love and attention the past four years.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at Lloyd James Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Tx 75701
