It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James Scot Murdock, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Scot left this world early on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2024, at the age of 63. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Scot was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Montgomery Murdock, his mother, Shirley Ann Causey, and his sister, Sherry Lee Berry. He is survived by his loving daughter, Michelle Renee Addington, and her husband, Aaron Addington, his three cherished grandchildren: Kylan, Brodie, and Tucker, his devoted sister, Elizabeth Ann Birkman, and her husband, David Birkman, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
An avid outdoorsman, Scot found immense joy in hunting and fishing, and loved watching sports, especially football. He was known for his frequent road trips and his generosity in cooking for anyone and everyone around. Scot’s heart was full of kindness, and his spirit touched everyone who met him. He was celebrated for his sense of humor, his willingness to help others, and his unwavering love for his family.
Scot's legacy will live on through the cherished memories of countless fishing trips and hunting adventures. His stories, his laughter, and his love for nature will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A memorial service to honor Scot’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on December 12, 2024, at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
