Funeral services for James E. Howard, 81, Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Fairwood United Methodist Church, Tyler. Visitation is preceding beginning at 10:00 am. Reverend Rick Tate will be officiating. Graveside services will follow at Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Howard died October 25, 2010. He was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Tahoka, Texas and grew up on a farm in Ralls. He graduated with a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M and served his country in the Army. He was employed by Electronics Associates, RCA and General Dynamics. Jim spent 57 happy years with his wife and they enjoyed camping, church and scouting activities. He retired and lived in Tyler since 1990 and was a member of Fairwood United Methodist Church of Tyler.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Howard; son, Gerald Howard; daughter, Sandra Collins; grandchildren, Steven Howard, Gregory Howard, Rachel Howard, Shannon Loburk and Morgan Collins; brother, Robert Howard; and sister, Carol Freeman.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas and Boy Scouts of America, East Texas Area Council.
