Funeral services for Jack C. Terry, 87, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Lloyd James Funeral Home Chapel with Neal Thurman officiating. Burial is in Cathedral In The Pines Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Jack passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015, in Tyler.
He was born on May 11, 1927, in Tyler to the late Calvin Homer and Ella Roberson Terry. He worked for the State of Texas Department of Transportation for 32 years as a surveyor. Jack loved to farm and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the University Church of Christ. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran during World War II.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Jackie Pittman and husband Terry, Tina Landfair and husband Bill, and Shirley Sides and husband Jim, all of New Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Tish Carpenter and husband John, of Arp, Robert Watson, of New Chapel Hill, Jennifer Landfair and Laryssa Terry, of Tyler; Corey Pittman and Danielle Pittman, of New Chapel Hill; great-granddaughters, Abby Pittman, Destiny Pittman, Krista Pittman, Alexis Landfair, Sidney Boone, Ashlyn Howard, all of Tyler, Amanda Carpenter and Kaytlyn Tehas, of Arp; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Terry; son, James Terry; sister, Mildred Dickeson; and brothers, Travis Hollingsworth, Brooks, Homer Lee, and Hulen Terry.
Pallbearers will be Bill Landfair, Terry Pittman, James Sides, Robert Watson, John Carpenter and Ray Anderson.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The American Juvenile Diabetes Association.
A special thanks to Deborah Steele for her compassion and care to Jack for the past two years.
