Graveside services for J. B. “Smokey” Boyd, 94, of Tyler are scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Jerry French, nephew, officiating Arrangements are under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012 in Tyler.
He was born on August 3, 1918 in Camp County to the late John Bascom and Josie Etta Niel Boyd. He retired after 42 years of service as an engineer for the Cotton Belt Railroad, He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Commerce, the B&E Brotherhood for Locomotive Engineers and the Air Stream Travel Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Tommie Lee Carpenter Boyd. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Bartlett Boyd.
He is survived by his daughter, Jo Beth Taylor; sons, Tim Boyd and wife Cheryl and Ted Boyd and wife Anne; grandchildren, Debbie Boyd, Mary Louise Camp, Bryan Boyd and Sam Taylor; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
