Hazel was born to and preceded in death by her parents Elbert "Pee Wee" & Tommie Faye (Connelly) Roberts
of Winnsboro.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen B. Spillers of Tyler, brothers J.D. Roberts (Joanie) of Longview,
Jerry Roberts (Mary) of Frisco, brother and sister-in-law, Wilmer Creecy (Debra) Golden, Russell Spillers (Lisa),
Sheldon "Mickey" Spillers (Suzanne) both of Tyler, Sheryl “Sheri” Czajkowski (Richard) of Magnolia,
Stephanie “Kay” Stephens of Houston, Susan “Patty” Dudley (Dale), of Whitehouse and
numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graduate of Winnsboro High School & Tyler Junior College, Hazel lived in Smith County for 50 years and
was involved with several organizations including serving as President of the Tyler Desk & Derrick Club
and as a volunteer for the Smith County Republican Party.
She loved animals, travel and spent many years assisting others in the community through her positions
with local hospitals, youth camps and assisting the elderly.
The family wishes to thank those individuals, neighbors, and organizations that assisted with her care over
her later years.
Details for a remembrance service are pending but in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in Hazel’s name
may be made to The Andrews Center, NAMI Tyler or to a charity of your choice.
