George entered the Navy at the young age of 17, and was honorably discharged in June of 1969. He then moved to Bridgeport, Texas where he fell in love with his wife of 51 years, Jeanie Rankin. They left Bridgeport and moved to Tyler, Texas in 1969 and he began working. George had many trades under his belt from working for General Electric, Tyler Pipe, and lastly, Kelly Springfield where he retired. During all of his time, George was also a Mason and a Shiner. He enjoyed spending his time on motorcycles, dirt tracks, Coaching little league, cub scouts, drag racing and fishing. George was a strong man who dedicated his life to his children and grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.
George is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie Robinson; sons, Garry (Colleen) Robinson of Virginia, and Danny (Mary) Robinson of Tyler; daughter, Lisa (Jordan) Eckeberger of Lindale; sister, LaJuana (Bill) Gibbs; 5 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, 6 great-granddaughters, and a host of nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Robinson; mother, Gladys Rose; son, Robert Robinson; and brother, Gary Richard Robinson.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris York, Chuck Rains, Danny Hedrick, Jordan Eckeberger, Michael Sammons, Rick Gibbs, Rickey Rankin, and Tim Caldwell; and honorary pallbearers are Charlie Milner, Headlee Daniels, Jace Eckeberger and Jayden Eckeberger.
A time of visitation for George will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Tyler Memorial Funeral Home. A celebration of life will occur Monday, February 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., following the graveside service at Harris Creek Cemetery, in Winona, Texas.
