Elwood Ray

Mr. Ray passed away on Sunday April 3, 2011 in Tyler.

He was born on November 9, 1921 in Como to the late Thomas Claude and Annie Mae Humphrey Ray. He was married in 1947 to Bonnie Mae Follis. He was a corporal in the 1st bombardment squadron in the South Pacific in WW II. He was manager of Perry Brothers Store 42 years in Belton and Tyler. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, Belton. He was also a member of the Lions Club and had lived in Tyler 41 years. He loved his family and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie Ray of Tyler; daughters, Rita Perryman and husband Mike of Moody and Carolyn Golightly and husband John of Mt. Pleasant; son, Michael Ray of Tyler; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
