He was a loved husband, brother and uncle. Pokey loved fishing, hunting, gardening and canning. He was also an excellent cook. He was even known to occasionally “doctor” up someone else’s cooking. Edward was also no stranger to pulling pranks and jokes on his loved ones. During his marriage to Jimmy Lee, he was an avid 42 player even participating in many tournaments. Edward was a War World II veteran. He entered into service with the United States Navy in 1943. He trained at Camp Grant in Illinois and went on to be stationed in England during the war. Pokey later retired from Levi Strausse Co. Edward will be dearly missed by all who knew him and cherish the memories they have of him.
Edward is survived by his brother, Morris Bracey and wife, Deborah: sister Martha June Barnes and husband, James; nephew Scott Bracey and wife, Linda; niece Becky Snyder and husband, Ben; niece Julie Ables and husband, Gary and niece Jill May and husband, Steve, nephew Mark Barnes and wife, Susan and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jimmy Lee Bracey, his parents and brother, JB.
A time of visitation for Edward will be held Monday, October 26, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Tyler Memorial Mausoleum, 12053 State Highway 64 W, Tyler, Texas 75704 with funeral following at 2:00 PM.
