Funeral services for Lance Cpl. Dustin C. Hardwick, 20, Tyler, are scheduled for 2pm Friday, April 3, 2015, at West Lake Baptist Church in Chandler with Bro. Luke Bilberry officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lance Cpl. Hardwick was born on January 7, 1995 in McKinney and passed away on March 21, 2015, in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, while on active duty. He grew up in Chandler and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2013. Following high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, attending school of infantry in Camp Pendleton, California. Upon graduation he reprised as a rifleman into 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines Kilo Company. While stationed in Hawaii he assisted in presidential visits.
Lance Cpl. Hardwick is survived by his fiancée, Samantha Bussell, of Brownsboro; father, David Hardwick, Sr., of Gilmer; mother, Anita Penney, of Tyler; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Jessica Cantu, of Chandler; brothers, Robert Cantu and David Hardwick, Jr., of Tyler, and Hunter Lee Hardwick, of Gilmer; grandfather, Raul Cantu, of Frisco; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Anna Cantu, Doris Hardwick, David William Hardwick; uncles, William Eugene Hardwick and Guillermo Cantu; and cousins, Diego Cantu and Anacristina Cantu.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8pm Thursday, April 2, 2015.
