Doshie was born April 22, 1932 in Zwolle, LA to the late Wiley and Mary Alice Weathersby. She had 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Doshie graduated from Honey Island High School in 1952.
Through a friend, as a pen pal, she wrote Charles while he was stationed on Guam. They were married and soon started their own family. He was in the Air force and they traveled to Germany and other cities in the United States. After Charles passed away in 1988, Doshie remained a widow until her death. She was faithful to her family and church family. She was always willing to help whenever asked. If you knew her you would know that she was pleasant to talk to and had a beautiful smile that lit up a room, If you asked her how she was, she would always say “I'm fine”. She was always happy and willing to give advice. She was a longtime resident of Jasper and Tyler Texas.
Doshie also had a green thumb, She could give life to a stick by sticking it into the ground. One of her hobbies was to crochet and make quilts, Most everybody got one. She also loved having an annual get together with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Alice and Wiley Weathersby; Husband, Charles E Rice; Sons, David Charles Rice, Curtis Neil Rice; Sister, Betty Ann Weathersby; Brothers, J.W. Weathersby, Eugene Weathersby, James Travis Weathersby and Billy Wayne Weathersby.
Doshie is survived by her sister, Viola Faye Trull and husband, Ivan of Gilis, LA ;Sons, Harold Sherill and wife, Connie of Lumberton, TX, Larry Rice and wife, Kim of Haskell, OK and Randy Rice and wife, Tanya of Tyler, TX; Sister in Law, Barbra Weathersby of Silsbee, TX; Daughter in law, Teresa Rice of Rainbow City, AL and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A visitation for Doshie will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Tyler Tabernacle Church, 3115 E. Fifth St., Tyler, Texas. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Tyler Tabernacle Church under direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Park, 1050 N. Main St, Jasper, TX 75951.
