Dorothy was born March 30th, 1926, in Indianapolis, IN, to parents Helen Redmond and Paul Cooper. After graduating high school, she went to a three-year diploma Nursing program at Hurley School of Nursing in Flint, Michigan, where she graduated in 1946.
March 1st, 1950, she married recently returned Navy Seaman Second Class, Wilbur Charles Weil. They had five children: Teresa, Philip, Stanley, Paul, and Tom.
Her nursing career spanned 45 years. She was licensed as a registered nurse in Michigan, Indiana, Florida, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler Nursing program with her Bachelor of Nursing in 1982.
The last eight years of her career, she worked at Trinity Mother Frances hospital in the Social Work department as a discharge planner.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for over 30 years.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by parents, Helen (Redmond) Cooper and Paul Revere Cooper, her husband Wilbur Charles Weil, her sons Philip Charles Weil and Paul Christopher Weil, and granddaughter Jessica Wilson. Dorothy Weil is survived by her brother Paul R. Cooper, her daughter Teresa Jane Wilson and husband John Wilson, her sons Stanley Marion Weil and Thomas Michael Weil, as well as 10 Grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
