Funeral services for Dorothy Alene Sudduth, 79, of Tyler are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 18, 2013 in the chapel of Lloyd James Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Crawford officiating. She will be laid to rest in Cathedral In The Pines Cemetery in Tyler. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Dorothy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
She was born on October 7, 1933 in Conroe. She lived most of her life in Tyler. She attended Smith County Schools and was in the first graduating class of Chapel Hill High School. She also attended Tyler Junior College.
Dorothy was an active member of Westwood Baptist Church where she previously taught a Couples Sunday School class with her husband Marvin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbie and Ollie Weeks; and sister, Lois Burns.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Marvin Sudduth; son, Barry Sudduth and wife Mary of Houston; mother-in-law, Lillian Sudduth of Tyler; sister, Nelta Naquin and husband Gordon, of Bossier City, LA.; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family would like to express deep appreciation to all the staff of The Hospice of East Texas for their loving care of Dorothy and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701 or Westwood Baptist Church, 820 NNW Loop 323, Tyler, Texas 75702.
