Donald Ray Barnett was born in San Diego, CA to Annie Mae DeRossitt and Robert William Barnett. Donald graduated from Little Rock High School in Little Rock Arkansas, and went on to Stephen F. Austin State University. He became a Registered Respiratory Therapist and came to Tyler, and taught at Tyler Junior College, and then went on to have a long career as a Respiratory Therapist at ETMC and at one point worked at both ETMC and Mother Frances Hospitals and retired in 2008. His hobbies included chemistry, survival skills, pyrotechnics, gardening, history and animals. Some of his greatest accomplishments were his 51 year marriage, being a Respiratory Therapist, being a member of the LDS church, and being an NRA member.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Mae and Robert William, and sisters and a brother.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Mary Barnett, daughters Emily Barnett of Huntsville, AL, Melanie Froman of Houston, TX, and Lindsey Beck of Tyler, TX, son Charles Barnett, and grandchildren Colin Rushton, Sean Rushton, Blaine Harrison, Jake Harrison, Caed Herrera, Mason Beck, and Mayzee Beck.
A visitation for Donald will follow occur at 1:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1617 Shiloh Rd, Tyler, TX 75703. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location. Donald's final resting place will be at the Kelsey Cemetery in Gilmer.
