David entered the United States 1st Calvary (Army) in 1941, serving in New Guinea as well as multiple places in the southern Philippines before he was released from active service in 1945.
Following his military service, David returned to Athens, Texas with his bride, Vera. In the early 1950's David and Vera moved to Tyler, where they were faithful members of Glenwood United Methodist Church and remained members when the church merged becoming Fairwood United Methodist Church, where he remained an active member.
David is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 72 years, Vera; siblings, James C. Yarbrough, Willie Wayne Yarbrough, Vera Lee Arthus, Martin Phillips and Bertha Baker. He is survived by his brother Henry Yarbrough, multiple nieces and nephews, as well as a loving church family at Fairwood United Methodist Church.
A celebration of David's life will be held at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, November 30, at 10:00am. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00pm at Tyler Memorial.
