Graveside services for Billy Rex Amos, 85, of Flint are scheduled for 2:30 pm Friday, February 8, 2019 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Bro. Don Stanaland officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2019 at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
He passed away on February 4, 2019 in Tyler.
Billy was born on April 10, 1933 in Gilmer to the late George Franklin and Nellie Blanch Amos.
After high school, Billy joined the Navy and served his country for four years. He then pursued a career in the oilfield. He worked for the Santa Fe Drilling Co. for 24 years.
Billy is survived by his two sons Michael Amos and wife Marilyn and Victor Pyle and wife Ann; his daughter Judy Johnston and husband Mike; his grandson Jeff Amos; and his granddaughters Julie Amos and Lauren Johnston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Jean Amos; son Lavelle Amos; two brothers and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, 1301 S Broadway Ave., Tyler, Texas 75701.
