Services for Betty Jean Hudgens Wells, 83 of Tyler are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Sexton officiating. Interment will follow at Tyler Memorial Park.
Mrs. Wells was born March 3, 1928 in Stephens, AR to the late Isaac and Grace Hudgens and passed away on March 29, 2011 in Tyler. She lived in the area 40 years; she was formerly of Carthage and Jacksonville. She graduated from Magnolia High School in Magnolia, AR in 1946 and attended Magnolia A&M, majoring in Home Economics. She enjoyed art, sewing, music, gardening and she was a member of Parks Heights Baptist Church for 38 years and was employed by the New York Store in Tyler for many years.
She is survived by her sons; Ray Wells, Jr. and wife, Debra of Rowlett, Bill Wells and wife, Deborah of Longview and Jim Wells of Tyler; daughters, Alice Petty and husband, James of Carrollton, Janet Moore and husband, Jason of Chandler; Five grandsons who are Pallbearers, one Granddaughter , Jodi Johnson , six great grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Hudgens of Magnolia, AR, Billy Hudgens of Lepanto, AR, Tommy Hudgens of Charleston, SC, Sammy Hudgens of Stamps, AR; sisters, Janette Sherman of Magnolia, AR and Annette Bell of Williamsburg, VA; many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wells, her parents, one brother, Terral Hudgens and sisters, Mary Cook and Louise Burrus. The family would like to thank Chandler Nursing Center for their loving care and Dr. Troxclair and Trinity Mother Frances ICU.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Wells, Jeff Wells, Lee Wells, Michael Wells, Derek Wells and Jason Moore.
