Services for Arvella Jean Thomas, 78, of Tyler are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home chapel with Pastor David Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Tyler Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas was born April 30, 1932, in Wichita Falls to the late William Floyd and Nora Lee Scott Stone. She passed away Sept. 14, 2010, in Tyler. She lived in Tyler for 45 years. She was active in the community; she was a teacher's aide at Dixie Elementary and a lifetime member of the PTA. She was a member of Pinebrook Baptist Church, the Red Hat Club and the BMA.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jessie Thomas of Tyler; sons, Glenn Thomas and Bryan Thomas, both of Tyler; Bill Thomas and wife Melissa of College Station; daughters, Suzanne Weston of Tyler, Judi and husband Zeke Ivy of Arlington; brothers, Robert Stone of Burkburnett, and Don Stone of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
