Annie O’Banion, age 99, of Tyler, formerly of Hawkins, passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. She was born on March 14, 1913 in Waldon, Arkansas to George Washington and Rosetta Plunk Pearce; they preceded her in death. Annie worked for 25 years as a seamstress for Mason Tyler. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Henry O’Banion in 1978 after 18 years of marriage. Annie was a long-time member of Friendly Baptist Church in Tyler.
Annie is survived by two sons, George Armstrong, and wife Carolyn, of Tyler and Lavon Cochran, and wife Betty, of Lindale; one daughter, Margaret Gutherie, and husband Blue; and by 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Sammy Cochran; one daughter, Wanda Kirk; and by five brothers, Jessie Pearce, Walter Pearce, Albert Pearce, Johnny Pearce, and Joe Pearce.
Services for Ms. O’Banion will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 1, 2012 at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler with Brother Dale Perry officiating. A private burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Mineola. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Thursday evening at the funeral home.
