He was born in Sacramento, CA on March 10, 1945 to Sherman Stanley, Sr. and Frances Heinrich Stanley. Sherman attended Catholic schools, graduating from Christian Brothers High School. He went to Sacramento State and received an AA in Electronics and a Bachelor degree in Business.
Sherman became a HAM Radio Operator at 12 years of age. He loved talking to people around the world. He loved to be active in the outdoors. He loved tennis, racquetball, skiing, sailing, motorcycling, bicycling, snow shoeing and kayaking. He worked for the IRS for 42 years. Six of these years he would teach new hires. He really loved his job.
In 2004 Sherman met the love of his life, Jeanne Bottinger. They shared many wonderful trips together including American Samoa. In 2006 they were married. Jeanne traveled with him when he taught, seeing lots of the US.
Sherman is survived by his wife, Jeanne, son, Sean (Kate) Stanley, stepchildren: John (Sarah) Bottinger, Wendy (Tom) McCully, Lisa (Dave) Wolfe, brother-in-law, Ron (Georgia) North, grandchildren; Jordan McCully, Jenna McCully, Jacob Bottinger, Jazmyn Wolfe and Hanna Wolfe.
The family would like to thank Twin falls Care Center , Auburn Crest Hospice and Dr. Ficklin for such great care of Sherman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park”. A graveside service will be held on Friday June 10th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park. A Hawaiian themed celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 11th, 2016 at the Lion’s Den Pavilion in Rock Creek Park between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
