Ron was born March 23, 1938 in Twin Falls to Matilda “Tilly” Bender and Edward Harr. He graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1956 and joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 701 as an apprentice. In 1962 he won a state plumbing contest and traveled to Purdue University to compete at the national contest where he finished 16th overall. He was an active member of Local 701 and later, Local 296, teaching the apprenticeship program and serving on the Idaho Plumbers and Pipefitters pension and health committees for 22 years. He worked for Vern Thomas Plumbing and Heating and later Home Plumbing and Heating. Ron traveled to Colorado, Oregon, Nevada, Washington, and North Dakota for his work and then in 1985 he started his own business, T2R Mechanical, with his two sons.
Ron married Loretta Sue Hite in 1959 and they spent a great deal of time with extended family and friends camping, fishing, hunting, bowling and playing cards. He especially enjoyed fishing the Richfield canal, and archery hunting in the South Hills. Ron and Sue divorced in 1988 and in 1995 he married Kay Allred Hollon. Kay was by his side when he passed away.
Ron is survived by his wife, Kay; two sons, Tracy (Debbie) Harr of Buhl, and Tim (Stephanie) Harr of Twin Falls; his mother Tillie Shane of Twin Falls; six grandchildren, Rachelle Harr, Megan (Kendal) Kowitz , Christine Harr, Jake Harr, Sierra Harr, and Casey Knutson; two great-grandchildren Hannah Harr and Korben Kowitz; five step-children, John (Jill) Hollon, Katie (Brett) Hinton, Tamra (Mike) Chapman, Shelley Wolters, and Chuck (Tanya) Hollon; eight step-grandchildren, Alex, Christopher, Ashley, Jasmine, McKayla, Zachary, Courtney, and Taylor; and four half sisters, Linda (Don) Morris, Joyce (Tom) Maraga, Phyllis Wickam, and Gloria (Richard) Smith.
Ron was preceded in death by his step-father Lloyd Shane, his father, Ed Harr, his brothers LeRoy Harr and Gene Harr and his niece Shauna Stanger.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Lance Cox and the staff at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park”.
