Richard Fay Hunt

Richard Fay Hunt, 80 of Kimberly, died June 16, 2011 at his home. He was born May 31, 1931 in Buhl Idaho to Fay and Nellie Hunt. As a young man Richard learned to pilot a plane. He was also scouted by a professional baseball team. He was proud of his Eagle Scout rank and was a lifelong supporter of scouting.

He was proud to be an American and served in the Army from 1951-1954. On February 9, 1954 he married his sweetheart, Joyce Holt, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. The great loves of his life were his family, the outdoors, the LDS church and his music. He was an entertainer, playing the guitar and singing, throughout his life. All his children and grandchildren inherited his love of music. Richard lived to hunt and fish and was an avid teller of tall hunting tales. He was a dedicated member of the LDS church and served in numerous capacities - including 5 years as bishop of Kimberly Second Ward. He and Joyce also served as temple workers for eleven years in Boise and in Twin Falls. Richard was a gunsmith and also worked for 22 years at Amalgamated Sugar Company in Twin Falls.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce, his sons Jon (Connie) of Kimberly, Dan (Gail) of Pocatello, David (Margaret) of Inkom ID, Tim (Merri) of Herriman UT, Daryl (Carol) of Kimberly, and Bob Nickelson (Louise) of Payson, UT; and his daughters Joy Clements (Val) of Buhl, and Gina Lay (David) of Idaho Falls. He is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and an infant granddaughter.

A viewing for Richard will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at White Mortuary 136 4th Avenue East, Twin Falls and from 12:00 p.m. until 12:45 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 in the Relief Society Room at the church. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the Kimberly LDS Birch Street building Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Twin Falls.
