Helen Marjorie Morgan, 92 of Kimberly, (known as "Granny' to all who knew and loved her), passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011 with all three girls at her side.
Granny was born March 30, 1919 at Artesian, Idaho and adopted by R.B. and Chloe Randell. Granny attended schools in Cedar Draw, Filer, Pleasant Valley, Hillsdale and Kimberly. She met her wonderful husband of 65 years, Melvin (Bud) Morgan at Dance Land in Twin Falls and they were later married in the log cabin on the home place in Kimberly on April 8, 1936.
They spent their first years working summers on the Crystal Springs Orchard, which was owned and operated by Granny's parents later moving to Kimberly where they lambed sheep, farmed and made a wonderful home for four girls.
Granny was a beautiful seamstress, making hand stitched quilts for all of her grandchildren and many others. She was a great cook. She canned anything that grew. It was nothing to see 80 or 90 bottles of fruit, jams, vegetables, even homemade mince meat setting on her cupboard at one time.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Granny was a past president of the PTA, a member of Excelsior Social Club and the Pleasant Valley Willing Workers Club. She had a love for buttons, and became a member of the button club which she enjoyed very much. Granny was active in and always supported her girls in their 4-H programs.
The love of her life was her family. She treasured her 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Noralee (Larry) Fairbanks, Jeanie Brown, Jackie (Dale) Kemp eight grandsons and one granddaughter: Dan Fairbanks, David Fairbanks, Darin Fairbanks; Race (Lori) Brown, Stormy (Cindi) Brown, Shasta Brown; Cameron (Gina) Kemp, Kevan (Christine) Kemp, Kaylene (Mark) Dixon and 14 great grandchildren. Granny is also survived by her extended family including 1 sister Donna (Howard) Wilkins, 2 brothers Gary (Colleen) Jolley, and Wayne (Joanne) Jolley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R.B. & Chloe Randell, her husband Melvin J. (Bud) Morgan, a daughter Peggy Morgan, a son in-law Wallace Brown. She was also preceded in death by 4 members of her extended family Frank, Kenneth, Dale & Dorothy Jolley.
Funeral Services for Granny will be held Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11:00 am at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park”, 136 4th Ave. East, Twin Falls. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A viewing for family and friends will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm with family greeting friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at White Mortuary.
