He was born Sept. 9, 1951, to John and Norma Church in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. His family immigrated to the United States when he was a young child. He was patriotic and very proud to be an American. In 1975, he married Laurita Marie Cundari, and together they brought five children into the world. In 1994, after 19 years of marriage, Lauri passed away. Several years later in 2001, Dave met the family angel, Mary Jo Benoit. They entered into marriage in December of 2005.
Dave recently retired from UPS after 28 years of service. He enjoyed many things; he loved spending time near the ocean, watching and participating in motorsports and fishing, even though he never caught anything. He was a handyman with a talent to fix and create anything. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Lauri; his parents; and two siblings, Mary Lee and Douglas. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; five children, Tennille (Ryan) Kober, Alan (Jennifer) Church, Rebecca Church, Rachel Knight (John) Frost and AJ (Hilary) Church; three stepchildren, Ben (Heather) Benoit, Rosanna (Joel) Waller and Robbie (Annie) Benoit; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria Brown and Connie Church; and his niece and nephew.
Many words can describe Dave, but some dearest to the family’s heart would include smart, compassionate, resourceful, determined, responsible, leader, hard-working, kind, helpful, loyal, dedicated, brave, driven, generous and innovative. He was a Christ-centered man of God. Although he will be greatly missed, we also know we will see him again in the presence of God.
The memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at White Mortuary in Twin Falls.
The family would like to request that if you have a memory of Dave to please share it with them by visiting the memorial page online at White Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Habitat for Humanity or a local charity in honor of his memory.
