Cody Wayne Ottersberg

Cody Wayne Ottersberg, 22 of Twin Falls, Idaho, lost his valiant six year battle against Leukemia (ALL). Cody's fight against Leukemia ended October 31, 2012 at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah following a September 13th bone marrow transplant.

Cody was born on October 12, 1990, in Twin Falls, to David and Laurie Ottersberg. Cody attended school in Twin Falls, and despite having treatments during high school, he still graduated with his 2009 class from TFHS. Cody was first diagnosed June 5, 2007 and was chemo-free for two years before he relapsed February 26, 2012.

Cody had many passions in his life and most of his passions were accompanied by people he loved, and people who cared about him. Cody enjoyed playing basketball, golf, and soccer. His enjoyment for golf started while finding golf balls with his father at Municipal Golf Course near his home. Cody grew up playing club soccer for the Rapids and continued into high school playing for varsity his sophomore and senior years. When he was done with his playing career, Cody found a way to still be a part of the game and when his health allowed, Cody enjoyed coaching the JV Boys soccer team at Canyon Ridge High School for three years. Cody was privileged to go to Los Angeles for his Make-A-Wish to meet the members of the LA Galaxy. There he met David Beckham, Tom Cruise, and his favorite player, Landon Donovan. Since that time, Cody and Landon have remained friends. Soccer was more of a livelihood than a passion for Cody and it was one that he cherished dearly with his friends. On any given night, he could be found with them playing XBOX online playing FIFA Soccer or Call of Duty. Whether they were right beside each other or miles away, his friends always found time to keep their friendship close through XBOX.

Cody and his dad shared many moments together and if they weren't on the golf course they were probably outdoors or hunting. They enjoyed their time spent together bowshooting, finding different guns to buy, and target shooting, but they especially loved to hunt ducks with their black lab, Coy. Cody's outdoor fun was not limited to golf, soccer and hunting as he enjoyed spending time with his family at Alturas Lake camping, boating, hiking, and riding 4- wheelers. Cody also loved all the family fun during holiday dinners and get-togethers where he would "get lost in the fun" while playing with his cousins. Family meant a lot to Cody, and he was very excited about being an Uncle to which his response in finding out the news was, "Thank you...Finally!" He had a very special bond with his nephew, Kesh.

Cody loved and appreciated Dr. Chang and all of the staff at the MSTI Clinic in Boise, Idaho. Although in pain, he felt the care and compassion by several of his favorite nurses: Dave, Sam, Pam, Nick, and Mary. As it was in Cody's nature, he quickly grew fond of the people who cared for him, and this held true during his final journey with the Primary Children's staff in Salt Lake. Cody touched many lives, more than anyone realized. He will be missed by so many who knew and loved him.

Cody is survived by his parents, David and Laurie Ottersberg of Twin Falls; brother-in-law and 1sister Shaun and Megan Pohlman and nephews Kesh and Kasen Pohlman all of Powell, Wyoming; Grandparents, Wayne and Shirley Ottersberg of Twin Falls; Greta Sharp of Filer; many special Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends. Cody was preceeded in death by his grandfather, Lee Sharp and his great grandparents.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday November 9, 2012 from 5-9 pm at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park” and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 10, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the LDS Stake Center located at 851 Harrison St South (Corner of Harrison St South and Orchard Dr.) with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Dustin Godfrey and the staff at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park”.
