

Candelario J. “Candy” Duran, Jr., 65, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at his home following complications of kidney failure.
Candy was born on October 10, 1949 in Pecos, Texas to Candelario Duran, Sr. and Margarita Duran. He married Alva Archuleta on March 2, 1972 and together they raised five children, Stella, Ben, Candelaria, Gabriel, and Reyes.
Candy worked for Thousand Springs for five years; then worked for Leo Ray Catfish factory for another five years. Then he joined GenTec where he worked for 32 years.
He loved watching sports; Green Bay Packers was his favorite football team along with the Atlanta Braves for baseball and Boston Celtics for basketball. He was a coach for Pee Wee League for football and baseball for his kids. As the kids grew up they had lots of friends come over and over the years they were called Mom and Dad.
He had lots of friends that will miss him greatly.
Candy is survived by his wife, Alva Duran of Twin Falls; his children, Stella Duran; Ben Duran; Candelaria (Claudia) Lopez; Gabriel Tatoo Duran all of Twin Falls; and Reyes Duran of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as his sister, Anita Salinas of Twin Falls and his brother, Ruben Duran of Phoenix, Arizona. Also surviving are his 31 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Annabelle Gallegos, Marisol Chacon and Ariana Gallegos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Candelario Duran Sr. and Margarita Duran; and his two brothers, Pete Melendez and Sammy Duran.
The family would like to thank Hospice Visions for taking care of Candy as well as his daughter-in-law, Catrina Jordan for caring for him. DaVita Dialysis who took care of him over the years and he would always joke with the nurses about nibbling on their necks and known to them as “Tony the Tiger”. Thank you to Dr. Cogen, Dr. Narasimhan and Dr. Myers for being there for him.
Funeral services for Candy will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015 at The Beautiful Gate Baptist Church, 288 Tyler Street in Twin Falls with Pastor Paul Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. A viewing for family and friends will take place on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at White Mortuary, 136 4th Ave. East, Twin Falls.
