Willis Glenn Reynolds, age 80, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, November 22, 2024. A Memorial Service for Willis will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
Willis graduated from Holt High School in 1962, where he played basketball and baseball along with being chosen as President of his Senior Class. He also attended The University of Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ferrell Smith Reynolds, Sr, and Dovie Eulyne Reynolds; brother, Claude Smith Reynolds; sister, Velma Anne Williams; sister, Rachel Eulyne Shuttlesworth; and his son-in-law, Thomas John Mulanix.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Willett Reynolds; daughter, Deborah Reynolds Mulanix; grandsons, Thomas Matthew Mulanix and Brendan Mason Mulanix; sister, Carol Lancaster; twin sister, Phyllis Clara Jones; brother, Ferrell Smith Reynolds, Jr. (Brenda); stepsons, Chuck Hurst (Annette) and Carl Hurst (Beth); step grandchildren, Laura Beth Brown (Preston) and Wesley Hurst (Ashley); step great grandsons, J.P. and Carter Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Willis had many hobbies that included golf, fishing, woodworking, & training hunting dogs. His favorite hobby was following his grandsons, Matthew and Mason, while they played football, basketball, & baseball along with spending time with them in the country in their younger years riding four wheelers, tractors, and the mule. Willis was a kind and generous man that loved his Lord and Savior, his family, and his friends.
Willis opened his own construction business in 1973 and later transformed it into a Real Estate & Appraisal business. He went to work for the Alabama Department of Transportation in 1988 where he remained for 20 years and retired from the State as the Assistant Division Engineer. He also worked for Almon Associates as well as Walker and Associates until he fully retired in 2017.
Throughout the years, his resume included Past President of the Tuscaloosa Homebuilders Association, member of the Tuscaloosa Board of Realtors, Alabama Real Estate Appraisal Board, Director of the Tuscaloosa Homebuilders Association, Tuscaloosa County Board of Equalization, Director of West Alabama Appraisers Association, held a SRWA designation from the International Right of Way Association, and served in the U.S. Army Reserve 75th Field Hospital Unit.
Pall bearers will be his grandsons, Matthew and Mason Mulanix.
Honorary pall bearers will be Danny Tibbets, William Edwards, James Snider, Philip Holmes, Jason Walker, Ray Miller, Michael Pierce, Jay Walton, Senator Richard Shelby, Gerald Allen, Les Allen, Hardy McCollum, Jason Stephens, William Wilson, Wallace McAdory, Phillip and Joyce Clements, Doug Hollyhand, Frank Summers, Hugh Stewart, Dr. Kimberly Hillman, Dr. Brian Hogan, Dr. Matthew Thom, Dr. Phil Hemstreet, and the entire staff from Oasis Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The ALS Chapter of Alabama or The Tanner Foundation in Birmingham, AL, in honor of his son-in law, Tommy Mulanix, or your favorite charity.
